Dance III Class Instructor: Robin Suing
Welcome! The dances you are about to see have been choreographed by Dordt students enrolled in "TA 320: Dance III - Choreography and Performance."
In this class we explored various methods of choreography and went through a production project from start to finish: from deciding a showcase theme, planning auditions, casting, setting a rehearsal schedule, making modifications, working with a lighting designer, cutting music, social media marketing, installing dance flooring, running dress and tech rehearsals, and oh yeah...choreographing too!
Once a theme of "Emotions in Motion" was decided upon, the choreographers were first encouraged to research and find a more "obscure" emotion, more than just "happy, sad, mad, etc." Once they decided on the emotion they wanted to convey in their dance and why it was important to them, they chose a song that would fit with their theme.
Each of these choreographers has worked with other Dordt students, putting pieces of their heart out there on the stage. We hope you can feel the love and passion through the art of movement!
